As we get ready for our 40 minute drive to the Holistic Vet, I pop him in a fresh nappy and carry his 17kg self down the stairs and out to the car.
A warm wet feeling starts to spread across my stomach as I’m nearing the bottom step…. He’s only managed to slip out of his nappy and pee all over me. Yes we are now going to be late! Thanks Lloris, a great first impression.
Dr Rinnert Van den Bergh is there to meet us as we arrive. Lloris can instantly sense that vet smell and with vets not being his favourite people or place to be he is instantly up to mischief. As soon as I put him down on the spongey mat and join him on the floor he starts piddling away, wiggling out of his nappy and scooting around letting it all flow out.

I’m answering all of the questions the best I can whilst desperately trying to clean it all up with just some blue paper towel and frantically apologising for his behaviour.
Before you know it I’ve sat in it. The second time today I have pee on me. Oh how I am regretting wearing my Micheal Kors outfit at this point!! You would think I would have learnt by now!
A friend reminded me of the saying today; “never work with animals or children” …. never a truer word spoken! Lloris eventually settles down and we risk removing the nappy once again to allow for his acupuncture to take place.
A series of multiple needles are place over his body. One in the front of his head- he didn’t flinch at all! He did shake his head a few times to dislodge the ones behind his ears, but other than that, as the needles went in closer and closer to his spine and his legs, aside from the odd tiny flinch where it hit his sore points he was an angel.

There you go Lloris, you can make mummy proud at times!
Now time to electrify them.
A number of selected needles are chosen and a current connected up to pulse through them. The level of current is ascertained by when he flinches then it’s slightly lowered to rest there.

I understand as time goes on, he will feel it more easily and require less and less current to pulse through him as he heals.
The treatment seems to be effective with Lloris’s muscles reacting, showing it to be working in some form.
We have been given a supplement to try between now and our next session in a weeks time;
Xiao Hua Luo Dan - which is to help with his blood flow and keep it pumping to aid healing.
Guess what the side effect is? It will make him thirsty and drink more … that’s all we need!
It has also been recommended that I add liver into his diet and try a supplement for his bones:
NOW - Bone Meal

It’s too early to say how this treatment will aid in his recovery but it certainly isn’t going to hinder it so I am happy to give it a try!
… his Uncle Cristian’s home made physio contraption has now arrived and has been installed … can’t wait to see what fun we will have with that tomorrow.
This is all sounding so promising Sam! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
